Question:   After review of the specifications section VII C, Item 1 states that the existing materials are to be reassembled to 16 height This requires a special engineered manufacturers splice as the tallest existing height upright is 14 on the exixting shelving needing a 2extension and enough columns/horizontals/diagonals to extend the height. Unfortunately, this manufacturer is out of business and this engineered part is no longer available. You do have enough material to re install at the 14 height with 7 levels. So we basically have three choices, first and most economical is to re-install the existing material to 14 high and add new material to complete the row or second, have a structural engineer and design a new splice piece for the column, have it tested using some of your existing materials by the structural engineer and for him to provide drawings with their PE stamp, have the splice handcrafted at a considerable cost. Or Thirdly use all new similar material for the whole row as we would use for the new row. We look forward to your response. Please advise. Thank you Mike Brodrick

Answer:   Vendors may quote on the Deliverables as described in the RLB, OR may use the language in Section VII, D to quote using another manufacturer's product. If the latter option is chosen, vendors must comply with Section V, B, 2 of the RLB. Also, if the latter option is chosen by the vendor, they must indicate in their bid response the following: "N/A" to Deliverables B & C; Deliverable D (in lieu of Deliverables B & C) must include the total cost of construction for two new aisles using alternate materials that meet the specifications described in the RLB. Bidder's opting to quote the alternate method will not be penalized in Evaluation Criteria # 6 & # 11.
