Question: Section 1.4 As an independent food bank that distributes well over 14 million pounds of food each year, we are in need of several essential items to "improve our food distribution program". To ensure our Grant Application is appropriate (and before we develop the essential narrative), we are hoping you can let us know if any of the following items/elements may not be considered for funding. Staff Training Needs: OHSA/Safety Certification Food Safety Training for all Additional Staff and related costs: Driver and helper Member agency relations person Computer equipment: Replacement of six older computers, software, and a new bar code system to accurately and quickly track inventory and distribution ADA computer enhancement for visually-impaired key staff person. Critical operation needs: Complete rebuild of walk-in freezer interior walls stainless steel sorting tables for food products epoxy floor refurbishing Equipment: Lift or elevator to provide ADA access purchase or lease of forklift for warehouse operation purchase of two hand-operated pallet truck scales. Answer: “We cannot pre-approve proposed individual costs or budgets before the Request for Grant Application is submitted however there are certain restrictions that apply to the expenditure of the Federal grant funds. Guidance that discusses the use of Federal funds is found at: 2 CFR 200 Subpart E, Cost Principles"
Question: We are seeking to expand an existing pantry. Can we use funds to operate our pantry during times that are accessible only for our clients, if we also offer community-accessible hours?
Answer: The funds can only be used to operate a pantry when it is open and accessible to all of the community (public) and cannot be used during periods that exclude the public or for limited or private distribution.
Question: In what form would ODJFS like to have the application presented? 3-ring binder, comb-binding, wire-binding, or stapled in upper left corner. Thank you.
Answer: We will accept any format, however, a 3 ring binder is the most helpful to reviewers.
